Hello all,
It is a rainy yucky day here in Katy but took that time to research online at some really cool websites. If you are planning a birthday party and have run out of ideas, can't think of what to do for Valentine's Day, Easter Egg Hunt has you stumped.....Go to www.celebrations.com. It is a very cool website with lots of ideas, decorations, food, elaborate, cheap, something for all of the crafty ones also. Which brings me to this topic......
Superbowl party. This is the first Superbowl party that we have had in several years. We have scaled down the guest list and of course the decorations will not be as festive as I am working on saving the money spent unnecessarily on something that is a little bit more useful.
It is going to be a cold day for Superbowl so we have the Frito pie and all the fixings. Simple easy and filling. Will post pictures of some of the decorations soon, all of which I got from the website above. So how are you cheering for? That is an undecided decision in my house or at least for me...............Guess I will have to pull the name from a hat!
Happy Planning!
Filling Our Days With Laughter and Joy.......Glad you are on this Journey with us! Enjoy~Shanna

Good morning all of my readers. What a beautiful weekend we had. The weather is going to be great all week. Todays topic is How different are your kids.
Just how much learning and dedication does schools give our kids?
Maddie is a GT student and school work is not what we have to work with her on, on the other hand Avery and Bailey are dyslexic and at times have a time struggle with their school work. So we are in a program that will help with the dyslexia. However how much do they need help. As we tested for this and we did learn alot. We learned that their IQ is high and usually is with dyslexia but struggle with the processing of words problems etc. We are having to create new things that will help with the processing. I am open to suggestions and will take any advice if you have dealt with this issue. I have learned that i must look at their grade book online every other day or so so I can stay on top of it. When I see there needs to be more help I speak up. Teachers will appreciate that you are honest and help in that area. So don't be afraid to speak up request conference and suggest things that will help the child. You know your child struggles and can see what will work and share with teacher if something is working. The program for dylexia is designed to gear their thinking process and brain to where in 3-5 years the program is not needed. I lean on the school to guide me and trust that they are really working on things to better this. However the state of Texas continues to take the programs that our children really NEED and keep the programs that are sometimes not needed. If you contuinue to take away programs that are NEEDED then where does that leave the child.....................left behind and struggling through school and sometimes in life. TEXAS listen to your parents...........Keep the Programs that we NEED not want! For some insteresting facts visit http://www.pbs.org/parents/readinglanguage/articles/dyslexia/the_facts.html

When we talk about heading for dinner for a family of five, dollar signs just run through your mind......However I must say that I have to brag on our outing last night. Although it was not a fancy restaurant but it was good food made to order and made your way. We went to Mission Burrito at LaCenterra in Katy. We enjoyed a great family dinner. We had really fun and exciting conversations, sharing and laughing. But the most exciting news is that our meal was just $10.63, yes you read right. We had a coupon for a free meal and another coupon for buy one get one free. The girls can never eat two tacos each so they shared a kid’s meal. All three girls got a dessert and drink and we got our drinks. Now that is a great savings. We have made a new packed that we have started for the year 2012 that we must put our phones in the center of the table and who ever touches their phone (with just our family, it is me or Ernie but the girls think it is fun.....) has to pay for the meal. This would work great as we went to dinner with family and friends and no one sure wanted to touch their phone.....Maybe you can try that at your lunch or dinner outings, see if it works!
Let me know what deals you have come across and how you got there. We can start sharing ideas! SAVE MONEY AND GET GREAT DEALS in 2012!

Yucky weather
Today was a doozy of a weather day. I sure feel sorry for the little ones that have to trot to school in this. But most of them are car riders on these days. Which brings me to my concern, School Zones are for NO cell phones.............I am not sure why people feel it is so important to talk on the phone call. It is only a short distance to put down the phone or put your earphones in.
On a more positive note, today is Wednesday and we will go to CCD tonight, for a recap of what we experienced on Saturday at Reconciliation. Which went very well. the girls were so big and looked so grown up speaking to the priest. Way to go Avery & Bailey! Now Maddie girl also was a huge help as she encouraged them to be brave etc. Everynight since then we have read our little prayer, anyway to have them used to praying to GOD! Be safe out there in the weather!

Maddie has made Honor Roll. What a great accomplishment! Do you reward them or just tell them how proud you are of them? I know we expect them to do good in school but sometimes we seem like we are hard on them and expect to much. I believe that you should tell them how PROUD you are of them. Kids need to know just how much they are appreciated as well as they want to make YOU as parents proud. I am very proud of my girls!
